Service Desk Manager | Bit by Bit Computer Consultants
Each month, we highlight a team member whose experience, talent, and personality help make Bit by Bit a truly exceptional place to work. This month, we’re excited to feature Melanie Oswald, whose journey from aspiring art curator to service desk leadership is anything but ordinary.
Professional Journey
Melanie began her career with dreams of curating masterpieces, earning a degree in Art History and envisioning a future immersed in the art world, until practicality (and her bank account) suggested a different path. While still in college, she joined a federal government agency as a part-time secretary, and by age 25, she was running an entire division. It was an exciting and formative experience, but over time, she realized she was craving something more creative and dynamic.
That curiosity led her back to school at NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP), where creativity and technology intersect. After graduating, Melanie launched her digital career as a web developer for a retail brand, eventually advancing to an E-Commerce Director role. She later transitioned into the luxury space, managing online operations for a boutique fine jewelry brand.
After nearly a decade on the client side, Melanie decided to flip the script and join Bit by Bit—moving from client to service provider. That shift gave her a rare dual perspective: she understands client needs firsthand and now helps deliver solutions from within the organization.
Role at Bit by Bit
As Service Desk Manager, Melanie keeps operations running seamlessly across the company. She’s the connector, the communicator, and often the calm in the storm.
“I like to think I’m the glue that keeps all the departments working together,” she says, and anyone on the team would agree.
What She Loves About Her Role
For Melanie, the best part of working at Bit by Bit is simple: the people.
“We have a culture that promotes collaboration,” she shares. “That’s what makes it such a fun and rewarding place to work.”
