# Windows 7 End of Life Notifications: Microsoft Will Send Full-Screen Pop Ups

 January 06th, 2020 [Eleanor Boschert](https://info.bitxbit.com/blog/author/eleanor-boschert)

**The time is now!**

Still running Windows 7?  Well, your first New Year’s resolution should be to UPGRADE to Windows 10.

**Why?**

As of January 14, 2020 Microsoft will discontinue Windows 7 support. And, don’t be surprised when you see a Microsoft pop-up notification to remind you about it.  Read more about these pop-ups at [**The Verge.**](https://www.theverge.com/2019/12/10/21004720/microsoft-windows-7-end-of-support-fullscreen-notifications-prompts)

**What does this mean for you?**

It’s pretty simple. Microsoft will no longer provide technical assistance and software updates from Windows Update that help protect your PC.

It won’t be simple if you don’t upgrade and find yourself without security or support. No more security updates to keep your data safe.  No more customer support. No more Internet Backgammon or Internet Checkers.

**What should you do?**

Again, it’s simple.  Move to Windows 10. Or you can upgrade your Windows 7 device. Get the answers about getting Windows 10 running on your PC at **[ZDNet.](https://www.zdnet.com/article/windows-10-will-your-pc-run-it/)**

**How do you do it?**

You can read more about upgrading from **[Microsoft.](https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4057281/windows-7-support-will-end-on-january-14-2020)**

**Or to make it easier, you can contact us at** **[info@bitxbit.com](mailto:info@bitxbit.com)** **or 866.391.1566 to get ahead of this change before you get left out in the cold winds of January without security or support.**
